STACKIT Run Command & Server Agent: General Availability
Section titled “STACKIT Run Command & Server Agent: General Availability”Following a successful Beta phase and extensive performance testing, we are pleased to announce that STACKIT Run Command and the STACKIT Server Agent have officially transitioned to General Availability (GA).
With this milestone, the service is now considered fully production-ready and reliable for enterprise workloads. To further simplify your infrastructure management, the STACKIT Server Agent is now installed by default on all public images provided by STACKIT.
Key Highlights:
- Production-Grade Reliability: The service has been reinforced to meet high-availability and security standards, ensuring stable running of commands and scripts across your server fleet.
- Default Installation: All instances created from STACKIT public images (Linux and Windows) now come with the STACKIT Server Agent pre-installed, removing the need for manual setup.
- Opt-out Flexibility: While installed by default, you maintain full control. If you prefer not to use the agent, you can disable the installation during server creation.
- General Availability: Benefit from full support and enterprise-level stability for your automation and orchestration workflows.
Impact:
- Instant Readiness: You can start using Run Command immediately after a server is provisioned and its operating system becomes active, without any additional configuration.
- Seamless Opt-out: Customers who do not wish to use the STACKIT Server Agent can define this preference during the server creation process with:
- STACKIT Portal (with a toggle in the server creation wizard)
- Terraform (using the dedicated resource argument)
- CLI & API (with the server configuration data)
- Enhanced Automation: Use the GA-grade API to reliably trigger Shell or PowerShell scripts and manage server configurations at scale.
For more information on how to use these features or how to disable the agent during provisioning, refer to the agent installation documentation: STACKIT Run Command documentation.
